Star Fortress is a vibrant homage to a classic from the 1980s. This fast-paced game challenges you to defeat the formidable Star Lord and his Star Fortress. Your primary goal is to eliminate the Star Lord positioned at the heart of spinning rings before he gains full mobility and initiates pursuit.

To accomplish this, you must target and destroy the encircling rings surrounding the Star Lord to expose his vulnerability. Throughout this intense gameplay, the Star Lord persistently tracks your movements, seizing any opportunity to retaliate when you create an opening.

If you successfully dismantle the Star Lord, you earn 5000 points along with additional bonuses based on the remaining ring segments and elapsed time. Concurrently, three sparks present constant threats during each level, posing fatal consequences upon contact. While you can neutralize these sparks with your ammunition, they do not contribute towards your score.

Prioritizing the timely destruction of the Star Lord is paramount before he transitions into a mobile state. An audio and visual alert signals approximately 10 seconds before the Star Lord's mobility activation. Once mobile, your standard firepower becomes ineffective against both the Star Lord and the fortress rings, leaving you with no choice but to evade. In cases where your ship succumbs during the evasion phase, signaling the end of a level transition.

To maneuver your vessel effectively, place your thumbs on the controller overlay at the screen's bottom edge. Using your left thumb, navigate left and right for ship rotation while controlling thrust and firepower with your right thumb. Colliding with the Star Fortress results in a harmless bounce, excluding scenarios where sparks are present on a specific ring segment. Additionally, during your ship's initial fading stage, you benefit from temporary invulnerability and freedom of movement for several seconds.

Prior to commencing each game session, players can opt for their preferred difficulty level, granting seasoned players flexibility to commence from higher levels. Consisting of infinite levels akin to its predecessor, Star Fortress intensifies gameplay as players progress, introducing additional challenges presented by an evolving Star Lord.

Scoring System:

  • Wall Segment - 33 points
  • Star Lord - 5000 points + time and ring segment bonus
  • Escape - 5000 points (no time or ring segment bonus)

Extra Ships:

  • Granted at 5000, 15000, 25000 points initially, followed by every subsequent increment of 50000 points

Tips:

  • Keep your ship in constant motion to evade danger and stay ahead of sparks.
  • Prioritize swift elimination of the Star Lord for enhanced time bonuses, potentially securing additional ships.
  • Elimination of all ring segments triggers regeneration of a new ring from the center.
